Inktober 2019 Day 31, Ripe

Inktober 2019 Day 31 Ripe

We come to the bottom of our ink well. It is day 31 of Inktober. Happy Halloween! Today we are going to the farm to help Igor pick the Ripest brain out of the organic head patch. A much more economical and legal way of collecting brains for the mad doctor. No more digging up graves in the middle of the night for poor Igor here. Now he is a hard working farmer helping supply the mad scientists of the world.

It has been a blast drawing all these. I learned how to use an ink well supplied pen and I love it. I feel a have improved my art skills this month. Especially my female figure drawing and figure drawings in general. They are still cartoons but more anatomically correct.Inktober 2019 Collage

I plan to keep working on a drawing and blog post a day or at least one every week. I hope you will check in and see what I make in the future.

I am off to go enjoy this Merry-Ween day. (even nature is setting up for Christmas too early in the states.)

Oh and here’s your final Inktober coloring page. I will probably tomorrow post a complete set of the coloring drawing tomorrow to download. 2019 Inktober Day 31 Ripe Coloring Page

Inktober 2019 Day 29 Injured

It’s day 29 of Inktober. With only two days left of the official horror season. I’d like to issue a public service announcement.

Injuries can happen to anyone and require a visit to the emergency room. So please remember to not judge another person based on their injury. You can’t instantly know what that person or monster has gone through while getting that injury. So please be kind and treat all people and monsters with respect this Halloween. Thank you.

For Parents: Use the following coloring sheet as a learning tool to teach your children how not to react when they see a monster in the waiting room. 2019 Inktober Day 29 Injured Coloring Page

See you tomorrow for Day 30, Catch.

Tonight it’s the drag race of the century. The classic monsters vs. the horror legends. Who will win? What ride would you get in?

Why not color it and decide for yourself? 2019 Inktober Day 28 Ride Coloring Page

Inktober 2019 Day 27, Coat

Inktober 2019 Day 27, Coat

Inktober 2019 Day 27 Coat

There’s a lot going on in today’s sketch for Inktober Day 27. Today’s prompt was coat and we have a lot of subjects that I’ll explain for those in the unknown. We have skinwalkers, clash day, reflections; whole truck load of stuff here.

First if you’re not familiar, Skinkwalkers. Skinkwalkers come from Native American culture. “In Navajo culture, a skin-walker (Navajo: yee naaldlooshii) is a type of harmful witch who has the ability to turn into, possess, or disguise themselves as an animal. The term is never used for healers.” (wikipedia: skin-walker)

I am not trying to make fun of Native American culture. The skinwalker legend is quite terrifying and you may have even heard of it from the cartoon show Courage the Cowardly Dog. But part of me wondered in an alternate universe where the skinwalker was a common thing like putting clothes on. Would skinwalkers participate in Clash Day?

Which brings us to the next thing you may not know about, Clash Day. Clash day is a themed day tradition mostly associated with American Public Schools where students wear mismatched clothing items all day. Basically dress up in the most contrasting clothing items you have. Most of these type of themed days happen during spirit week which leads up to Homecoming in American High Schools but they now happen in lower grades too as well now. It’s also a day associated with the UK punk band The Clash. So that’s why I felt I needed to explain what clash day meant here in the US.

Okay now that we’ve explained the meanings in today’s sketch hopefully you get it. We have a young lady dressing up in different animal coats for clash day and becoming a mismatched skinwalker creature. I added the extra challenge of adding a mirror and doing a side reflection of the lady in her deer skin coat. Yes I know it should be a doe but a doe doesn’t have antlers and I wanted some bad ass antlers darn it! lol!

Have some fun coloring this one while you read up on Native American culture on the Skinwalker. 2019 Inktober Day 27 Coat Coloring Page

Inktober 2019 Day 26 Dark

Inktober 2019 Day 26 Dark

Inktober 2019 Day 26 Dark

Sometimes you don’t want to know what’s in the darkness. It’s day 26 of Inktober and we’re playing in the dark today.

I never really messed with zombies/ghouls in major detail but tonight I did and it turned out so cool. I love the designs of my three zombies in the foreground here. The hand holding the lighter turned out well too. I spent quite a bit staring at my own hand clenched like it was holding something to get the right creases in the skin. Think I got it really good, including my hairy arm. lol. I didn’t want to cover this drawing in ink to make it look dark so I used a black layer with a clipping mask in photoshop to allow the drawing to slowly be “lit” up in the darkness, behind the black layer.

I included a non darkness version for anyone to color and add their own darkness if they want to. 2019 Inktober Day 26 Dark Coloring Page

Inktober 2019 Day 22 Ghost

Inktober 2019 Day 22 Ghost

Inktober 2019 Day 22 Ghost

I am exploring new scary territory for me. Perspective and Anatomy. And they scare the crap out of me cause I am not great at it. Today’s prompt for day 22 for Ghost and I decided to challenge myself and try some human drawing.

Now I am more of a biological plant, monster, tentacle mixed with machines kind of illustrator. When it come to detail anyways. If i draw any people it’s rarely done at any other angle than the front or side. So I tried drawing a person walking through the entryway of a haunted house with a scary ghost behind them. And if the angle wasn’t challenging enough I decided to make the person a young woman. And there is one part of femal anatomy that makes me cringe, breasts. I’m what drawers call a uniboob drawer or bullet bra drawer. It’s hard for me to figure out the anatomy of a human but I wanted to improve on it. So I went to a Facebook group for some assistance. I usually never get a response but apparently the subject of drawing breasts correctly under clothes turned into a whole thread of guides and advice on how to do it.

I think I got it down pretty well. Still need to improve the rest of the anatomy but one step at a time. Next step I need to work on is hips. Cause there’s some extra joints in that woman’s hips there. lol

I am quite proud of this piece I gave myself a challenge and stuck with it. It’s not perfect but I had a lot of fun interacting with people and improving my skills bit by bit.

Here is your free coloring page of today’s sketch. Feel free to try and fix the anatomy. lol 2019 Inktober Day 22 Ghost Coloring Page

Inktober 2019 Day 20 Tread

The undead rise and tread across the land. Run, run as fast as you can. It’s day 20 of Inktober and today’s prompt was tread.

What’s more creepier than treading through a graveyard on a dark and foggy night, huh?

See you tomorrow for day 21, treasure.

Inktober 2019 Day 18 Misfit

Inktober 2019 Day 18 Misfit

Inktober 2019 Day 18 Misfit

Day 18 of inktober has arrived and it is the biggest misfit of all.

Misfit can be a confusing word to use on someone. It can be used in a good or bad way. The first thing that comes to anyones mind of course is the misfit song from Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer tv special. It taught us that being a misfit is sometimes what makes a difference in an otherwise plain world. We love misfits yet we present them in both good and bad ways. It can make someone quite confused. I know I’ve been.

I would try to be the same as everyone else but in the end it didn’t lead me to what I was desiring in life. I especially felt this at the end of college. I felt everyone that broke the rules and did things out of the norm were getting all the rewards while us that followed the rules often got last place.

This inktober has helped me embrace my misfit awkwardness and has led me to vastly improving my drawing skill. Whether it gets noticed on social media or not doesn’t matter to me, because I’m doing this for myself and my own self esteem. Embrace being a misfit because you walk among other beings who are also misfits and pretend not to be.

See you tomorrow for day 19, Sling.

Inktober 2019 Day 17 Ornament

Inktober 2019 Day 17 Ornament

2019 Inktober Day 17 Ornament

Even the darkest beings like to decorate their personal possessions. Welcome to the 17th day of 31 days of Inktober, Ornament.

Today the grim reaper pays us a visit showing off his new ornament he’s attached to his scythe.

I feel I out did myself with this one. My wife even said she would of not known this was drawn by me if she walked by it. So I guess I’m really improving my work. Still not a realism expert or perspective expert but I can do side poses pretty well now.

Did this one again with the trusty inkwell after drawing out the initial drawing in pencil.

See you tomorrow for Day 18, Misfit.

Don’t stare too long, you might end up with a stone cold stare. Welcome to day 16 of 31 days of inktober. We’re in the bottom half of it folks and I woke up with wild hair.

Had to deal with some anxiety today so making this sketch was very therapeutic for me. But I won’t go into details further than that today.

See you tomorrow for day 17, ornament.
